Vision: The Power of Transformation
Created 14/08/2011 07:10:10 PM
The
strategists and management were familiar with
the general meaning of vision over the past
decades, but since 20 years ago the Futurists
shed a new light on the concept releasing the
transforming power of vision not just as a
strategic tool, but as a strong driving force
for implementing preferred social changes
(Slaughter, 2010). In
order for social movements to create the world
in which we want to live,
than we need to develop better
visions
for creating
effective
long-term strategies (SmartMeme, 2006). As you see it's
all depends on our visions.
Vision is also important for the followers. People follow us if they find something valuable in our visions. According to Dr. Bishop (2001), "A vision is an image of the future, an attractive picture of the future that people can strive for.". People seek for attractive themes and concepts and this can be realized through our well-designed visions. The functioning role of vision is also important so that Dr. Jackson believes "rather than breaking up information into pieces, a manager's, policymaker's, and consultant's vision is needed" for a successful observation mission (Jackson, 2011).
I think that we should deal more with vision and its multiple functions. I may not be able to cover all the aspects of vision in this note, but I hope to do it in my next notes.
